United Way supporter uses legacy giving to expand philanthropic reach

February 2, 2018

The Brosches

Tocqueville Legacy Society members Anna and Dave Brosche

As a supplement to her financial contributions to United Way of Northeast Florida, Anna began volunteering on the Volunteer Accounting Committee (VAC) of the Resource Management cabinet. It was a great way to lend her skills to the important process of cyclically reviewing partner agencies and ensure United Way is being good stewards of donor dollars.

Anna eventually became chair of the VAC, while also expanding her volunteerism to the Success by 6 Council. The Council focuses on early learning, which aligns with her interest in improving the lives of children in our community. Anna joined United Way’s board of directors in 2009, eventually serving as chair from 2013 to 2015.

Here’s what the Brosches said:

Our financial commitment and volunteerism continued to grow based on the great work we continued to observe by the United Way team and partner agencies.

We have a strong sense of making Jacksonville a better city, and we are excited to declare a legacy commitment early in our careers and create a long-term giving goal. We have a long runway ahead of us in terms of careers, and we are proud United Way will be with us the entire way.

We have a love for Jacksonville, and United Way helped us expand our philanthropic reach in the community. After connecting to the work in the community through a deep dive into many of the partner agencies’ programs and operations — and seeing the impact United Way has in Jacksonville — making a legacy gift commitment was an easy decision. We want to see more of this work, and our commitment reflects our desire.

United Way helps a broad range of community challenges and changes lives. The organization is also mindful of its stewardship of the funds raised. United Way has a strong history of making an impact throughout the nation and definitely here in Northeast Florida. Each of us can band together to ensure United Way’s future continues to be strong. When all of Northeast Florida prospers, we all benefit.
