Cecil with MenteesResearch indicates that just one caring adult can change the direction of the life of a child who is struggling emotionally and academically. Achievers for Life is a comprehensive dropout prevention strategy that has helped nearly 3,500 students get back on track to graduation.



Providing Quality Financial Education

Volunteer Barbara Armstrong at a RealSense siteFamilies are learning the basics for creating financial stability and building a better future. United Way’s RealSense initiative provides financial education, mentoring and free tax preparation services that help people save money and build assets. We tracked RealSense clients over a 3-year period and prepared the Better Off Measures study to document the impact.

Full Service Schools

Making Improvements in Health

PhoenixThe Full Service Schools collaboration enables United Way and its partners to connect nearly 3,500 students and families to a critical range of therapeutic, health and social services and address non-academic barriers to success in school. Services include counseling, family therapy, behavior management, substance abuse counseling, parenting classes, medical treatment and follow-up, psychological testing, tutoring, legal consultation, and referrals to many outside services and agencies.
